About Buchanan First Responders

Buchanan First Responders is a volunteer squad, currently with seven active members.  First Responder Chief Lisa Van Schyndel works full-time for the Town of Buchanan as the First Responder Chief and as the Town's Emergency Management Services Coordinator.  The majority of members of the First Responders also serve as volunteer firefighters for Buchanan Fire & Rescue.

In 2007, the squad responded to 179 total calls for service.  Approximately 21% of calls were in response to vehicle accidents. Calls for chest pain, difficulty breathing and heart problems also made up a significant percentage of calls.  For all calls received in 2007, approximately 34% were considered life threatening.
