Hickory Park Shelter Project Can You Contribute?

The Town Park Committee is working on the insallation of a new shelter for Hickory Park and is seeking assistance of Town residents and businesses.  If you have expertise with site work, landscaping, asphalt, concrete, general construction, stone, brick, etc. and are interested in contributing labor, materials or other assistance to our project please contact the Town Administrator/Clerk at 734-8599 or e-mail agorall@townofbuchanan.org if you can contribute.

   
    

Town Park Committee

The Town of Buchanan established a Park Committee in 2009 to assist in decision making and planning for all Town parks.  All residents are invited to attend meetings which are held approximately every two months.  The Committee always welcomes input and suggestions on how to improve our parks.  For agendas and minutes of Committee meetings visit the Meetings & Notices Page.  The Committee is currently seeking new members, in particular new members that live near or frequent Springfield Park or the the Town Hall Park.  If interested please e-mail the Town Administrator/Clerk at agorall@townofbuchanan.org or call the Town Hall.

   
    

Open Space and Recreation Facilities Plan, 2009-2013 Adopted

The Town of Buchanan has adopted a Open Space and Recreation Facilities Plan, 2009-2013.  A public informational meeting on the plan was held on November 10, 2008.  This plan will help the Town in planning, maintaining and improving park and recreational facilities in the community.  A Park Committee has been formed to assist in implementing the plan.

Park Impact Fee Needs Assessment Study and Ordinance

The Town of Buchanan has adopted a Park Impact Fee Ordinance and public facilities needs assessment study.  Park impact fees will be used to develop new park facilities in the future.  Impact fees are only charged to new development in the Town.  Fees collected are to be used only for capital purchases related to parks and recreation.
