Free Residential Tire Disposal - Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Residents of the Town of Buchanan may bring up to 6 tires that are 17" or less to be disposed of for free at the Buchanan Town Hall on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Only tires 17" or less in diameter can be accepted for free. This free tire day is for residential tires only, it does not include tires for equipment or tractors, etc. Tires larger than this need to be taken by the resident to the Outagamie County landfill and they will charge $4.00 per tire.

Appliance Pick Up Information

The Town will pick up and dispose of appliances on these scheduled days in 2008:

• August 21
• September 11 and 25
• October 9 and 23
• November 6 and 20
• December 4 and 18

1. Freon Appliances to include:  refrigerators, freezers, upright freezers, chest freezers (MUST BE CLEANED OUT), dehumidifiers, air conditioners, and water coolers.
2. Other Appliances (White Goods) to include: hot water heaters, dishwashers, stoves, washers, dryers, microwave ovens, furnaces, humidifiers, and propane tanks.

To have a freon appliance or white good removed, you must purchase a sticker (see cut-off day below) from the Buchanan Town Hall, N178 County Road N between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The cost of the stickers are:

Freon Appliance - $10.00 each

Other Appliances - $5.00 each (except propane tanks = $13.00 each)

Each appliance will need an individual sticker to be purchased by Noon the Wednesday before the scheduled pick up date.  If an appliance does not have a sticker, it will not be picked up. Each sticker is individually numbered at the time of purchase and your name and street address will be filed at the Town with that sticker number. 

The appliance will only be picked up if located outside the residence, near the garage, with clear access. This service is contracted with a private individual, not Veolia Waste Services.

Brown Good/Bulky Item Pick Up Information

Another sticker program we offer is our brown good or bulky item pick up.  Brown goods are considered small or large furniture items, exercise equipment, grills w/out tanks, TVs, sinks, toilets, lawn & garden equipment with the fuel and oil drained, carpeting and/or padding, construction/remodeling materials, etc.

Brown good stickers must be purchased by Noon the Thursday before the scheduled monthly pick up date (see below). These dates are normally scheduled for the 2nd Friday of each month.  These items must be located at the road side, just like your regular garbage.

2008 Scheduled brown good pick up dates are as follows:

• September 12
• October 10
• November 14
• December 12

Make sure each item out for pick up is scheduled with the Town Hall and you have purchased a sticker to put on each item (see the cut-off time listed above). The cost for a sticker is $5.00 per item. If you have a large number of items, it may be more cost effective for you to rent a dumpster from Veolia or take the load to the Outagamie County Landfill yourself.  You should not put these items on the road side until the night before the once-a-month pick up date. Any items that can't wait until the scheduled dates, you will have to haul to the Outagamie County Landfill yourself or call Veolia Environmental Services and pay them directly for a special separate pick up.
