Building Inspection & Permits


Building permit applications can be obtained at the Town Hall.  The cost for a general permit can vary depending on the size of the building/remodeling project. 

Permits are required for the following projects (this list is not all inclusive):

  • Houses, duplexes and apartments
  • Garages
  • Fences
  • Decks
  • Sheds
  • Barns and silos
  • Roofing, siding and windows
  • Interior remodeling
  • Electrical, plumbing and HVAC upgrades
  • Commercial buildings and signs
  • Demolition/razing a building
  • Gas and pellet stoves

Please Note:  The fee paid for the general permit for building a new home includes the HVAC, electrical and plumbing while the home is being constructed.
