Welcome To the Town of Buchanan

The Town of Buchanan, which is located in the southeastern portion of Outagamie County, Wisconsin, is a unique blend of rural and urban development.  Much of our development has occurred within the boundaries of the Darboy Sanitary District, which was created in the 1980's to provide "urban services" to the newly developing areas.  The Town has a current population of 6,894 (2011 Estimate) residents and encompasses a land area of approximately 18.4 square miles. Buchanan shares a common boundary with the communities of Appleton, Kimberly, Kaukauna, Combined Locks and the Towns of Harrison, Holland, Wrightstown and Woodville.

Town of Buchanan Winter Parking Regulations

Per the Code of the Town of Buchanan, (§495-19 and §495-14), no person shall park any vehicle upon any street in Buchanan for more than 30 minutes between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. from November 1st through March 31st. If a snow emergency is declared there shall be o parking for 48 hours or until snow operations have been completed. The Town will make announcement of such emergency to be broadcast on WHBY and WAPL radio stations, Twitter and this website.

2011 Comprehensive Drainage Study - Open House & Resident Survey

The Town of Buchanan completed a Comrehensive Drainage Study in 2011. Drainage (ditches) and stormwater issues have been identified by the Town Board as the #1 Town issue. With the assistance of the Town Engineer, the Town's goal is to identify and implement long-term solutions to the drainage issues commonly reported by residents. A resident open house was completed on September 13. A Drainage Study Summary Handout was provided at the meeting.

A resident survey was also completed and survey results were reviewed by the Town Board on Oct. 18 and Jan. 31. Provided is the Drainage Study Survey & Analysis Report. The Town Board met on Jan. 31 to further discuss study implementation and will continue to meet as necessary in the coming months. Dogs to be Licensed and Kept Under Control

Dogs running at large and untagged dogs are subject to impoundment and the owners may pay penalties.  A dog is considered to be running at large if it is off the premises of it's owner and not under the control of the owner or some other person.  A dog is considered to be untagged if a valid license tag is not attached to a collar which is kept on the dog whenever the dog is outdoors, unless the dog is securely confined in a fenced area.  An officer shall attempt to capture and restrain any dog running at large or any untagged dog.  If the owner of a dog negligently or otherwise permits the dog to run at large or be untagged, the owner shall forfeit not less than $25 or more than $100 for the first offense, and not less than $50 or more than $200 for subsequent offenses. Also, please be respectful of your neighbors by not letting the doy continually bark, keeping the dog in your own yard, cleaning up after your dog including picking up their waste when out walking and keeping your dog away from people walking their dogs. 

2011 Dog Licenses are available for purchase at the Buchanan Town Hall.  All dogs in the Town of Buchanan must be licensed yearly prior to April 1st. Licenses purchased after March 31st are assessed a $5.00 late fee per dog. The license application can be mailed in with a copy of the rabies certificate, fee and self-addressed stamped envelope or the license can be purchased at the Town Hall.  Be sure to have an up-to-date rabies vaccination certificate with you when you come in for the license. Click on the following link for a dog license application:  Buchanan Dog License Application.
