The Town Board approved NEW road specifications at their August meeting. There are many reasons the road design was modified and we’ll go over two significant ones. Drainage has been an issue in the Township for many years. In 2018, there has been a 223% increase in reported drainage concerns compared to 2014. With this understanding, the Town Board identified drainage as the most significant and pressing matter. Also, with more residents walking and biking for recreation and transportation the current road design has become a public safety concern.
To address drainage and public safety, three road designs were approved. The first will primarily be used in subdivisions east of CTH 55. This design includes storm sewer and sump pump discharge pipes connected to the storm sewer, see Alternative Option R3 below.
The two remaining road designs are for the urbanized area of Town, west of CTH 55. Alternative Option U5, which will only be used on major roads, includes no ditches, storm sewer, sump pump discharge pipes connected to the storm sewer, sidewalks and additional space on the roadway for multi-modal transportation.
Alternative Option U6, which is below, includes no ditches, storm sewers and sump pump discharge pipes connected to the storm sewer. This road spec will be used on interior streets in subdivision.
