TOWN DEPUTY CLERK / DEPUTY TREASURER

The Town of Buchanan (Outagamie County, population 6,916) seeks a Town Deputy Clerk / Deputy Treasurer. This position will also serve as a backup for the Clerk/Treasurer as needed. Day-to-day supervision is provided by the Clerk/Treasurer, but also occasionally takes direction from the Town Administrator and/or Town Board. 

Responsibilities include but not limited to greeting visitors, answering the phone, election assistance, assisting in tax collection, maintaining Town records, newsletters, licensing, assisting with the permit process, special projects, title inquires, ordering of office supplies, assistance with payroll and other accounting functions. 

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree in Accounting or at least three years of experience working in a municipal office or related work in a public sector environment. Individual must have customer service experience, excellent communication and organizational skills, must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. The Ideal candidate must be detailed oriented, friendly, flexible with schedule, able to manage confidential data, able to multi-task and must be self-motivated. WMCA certification is required; paid training available. 

Position maintains either rotating office hours of:

7:00 am – 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 7:00 am – 11:00 am Friday or

9:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am – 12:00 pm Friday. 

Otherwise a set schedule of 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am – 12:00 pm Friday.

Occasional nights and weekend work may be necessary to accommodate meetings, election and tax collection schedules. Complete benefit package available. Starting wage $16.95/hour. 

Must be able to pass background check and drug screening. Must have the ability to be bonded.
